GLOBAL FOOTBALL SCHOOL SCORES BIG WITH MCCLENDON

Charleston, SC – August 20, 2015

Global Football School.

Global Football School, the first micro school in the United States to create an academic and football (soccer) training environment for children in the 4th through 9th grades, is pleased to announce the addition of Jamie McClendon to the school’s staff.  McClendon, a South Carolina native, will take charge of the ’03, ’04 and ’05 training group when school begins later this month.

Mr. McClendon played his collegiate soccer at Lander University, and holds a M.A., Educational Leadership and Administration degree.  On the pitch, he has earned the USSF ‘A’ license, and comes to GFS from Birmingham United Soccer Academy where he was the Director of Coaching.  “Jamie is the right person for the Global Football School family,” stated Chuck Dennis, Executive Director of Global Football School.   Mr. Dennis continued, “He understands our approach to development, has the experience of managing all types of football and academic situations, and is a father himself, so he connects well with our student athletes and parents.”

Since graduating from college in 2003, Mr. McClendon has been the Dean of Students at Richland School District 1 in Columbia, SC, as well as, a Special Education Teacher in the Greenwood School District 50.  In addition to his responsibilities at the Global Football School, Mr. McClendon will also be coaching the U16 men’s team for U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy program (South Carolina Battery) in Charleston.

“From the first time Chuck mentioned the concept of the school, I was genuinely interested, and knew I wanted to be a part of this groundbreaking program,” McClendon commented.  He added, “The idea of a community-based soccer school is certainly a draw, but as an educator myself, the academic curriculum and vision for the students, really solidified my desire to join the staff.”

McClendon will join Kenn Schmidt Nielsen, Global Football School’s Technical Director, Trish Rohr, the school’s Director of Education and Monica Killen, the school's Learning Coach, this fall.  “We have assembled an awesome and personally committed staff,” concluded Mr. Dennis.  “Quite frankly, we have found each other through the process of forming GFS, and the manner in which the pieces are falling together speak to just how special this experience has been, and the excitement which lies ahead for our students, families and football community.”

About The Global Football School.

The Global Football School is a micro school located in Charleston, SC, offering an educational platform which identifies each student’s learning profile, and then guides the child through an academic curriculum.  Education is not just limited to the classroom, as a football (soccer) specific training program is built into the daily schedule.  The micro school is open to selected children in the 2000 through 2005 birth years, and is limited to 24 students at this time.  Philosophically, both in the classroom and on the pitch, GFS believes each student/player learns at his or her individual pace.  The learning and training environment is designed to follow a specific pathway, and provide feedback and reward based upon achievement and performance.  To learn more about the Global Football School, please visit www.globalfootballschool.com or email to gfsinfo@globalfootballschool.com.
